Eger City Centre Rehabilitation

The renewal of Eger city centre’s protected national monuments helps to resolve problems identified in the city’s Construction Plan:

– Strengthening of the public and green area role of Eger stream, as an ecological corridor,
– Renewal and quality transformation of existing public areas like Dobó square, near the stream areas and by squares, leading to the bridges,
– Resolving the downtown’s parking problems and parallel to this, the improvement of the pedestrian city centre,
– The value–rescuing renovation and improvement for visiting of the dilapidated state national monuments.

Local civil-society organizations played active role and carried out several activities during the process of project development, with the professional assistance of HBHE. These activities were complementary to investment-related projects and connected to their goals by enforcing local identity and defining social relationships enforcing activities (soft elements). This way, the method of bottom-up project development construction could prevail.
